Redirect Pro v1

Redirect Pro v1 is a Textpattern plugin for redirecting outdated, incorrect and duplicate URLs to their correct final locations. It can help ensure link continuity after a site move or a URL scheme change — an essential step for usability and search engine accessibility.

This is the first release in Threshold State’s Professional Series of Textpattern plugins. Intended for commercial sites and web professionals, the plugin is available by subscription only.

Automatic redirection

The plugin will automatically redirect an old or incorrect URL to the correct page whenever possible. For example:

  • Old pages are redirected to the new URL after a Permlink Mode change (from /section/id/title to /year/month/day/title, for example)
  • In /id/title and /section/id/title mode, URLs with an incorrect or missing title will be redirected to the correct article page
  • In /year/month/day/title mode, the plugin will redirect old article URLs to the correct page if an article’s Posted date is changed after publication
  • Automatically redirects old URLs to the correct pages when an article is moved to a different section after publication
  • Automatically redirects old URLs to the correct pages after changing from “messy” to “clean” URLs
  • Doesn’t interfere with custom GET URL parameters used by other plugins

Manual redirection

Redirect Pro includes a powerful Textpattern template tag for manually redirecting URLs. Its features include:

  • Conditional and unconditional redirection
  • Local and external destination URLs
  • Simple patterns and regular expressions

Limitations and system requirements

  • Textpattern 4.0.4+
  • Apache on Unix
  • Clean URLs — the plugin has no effect in “messy” URL mode, or if Clean URLs are not fully functional.
  • May not be compatible with custom clean URL plugins and add-ons, or with other URL redirection tools.
